Above is a selection of my art, spanning almost four decades (newest at top). My themes are mostly storytelling, myths, legends and music, combined with new technology. I grew up in Assynt in the NW Highlands. When I was a child my aunt Marlene MacKenzie (two paintings of her on bottom row) taught me how to use oil paints and I made many paintings of Assynt and its people. In my teens I was a fisherman and my father taught me how to weld steel to make creels. I would use left over metal to make sculptures. In my early 20's I was influenced by a year travelling around the world and I experimented with different styles. I also started collecting plastic off beaches and streets to create metal and plastic sculptures. I had my first exhibition at the Ceilidh Place in Ullapool.

In my late 20's I started to experiment with stop frame animation and created Seordag; a metal hen with a TV set for its stomach. I learned to edit at the Film and Video Access Centre in Edinburgh and then made backgrounds for Gaelic TV series Uruig Na H'Alba. I went on to make paintings and storyboards of Seordag. I had my first exhibition at WASPS Studios in Stockbridge, Edinburgh and turned an old carpet saleroom into a pop up gallery during the Edinburgh Festival.

In my early 30's I went to Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and transferred my traditional skills to digital, and won a "tartan oscar" for my animation Kitsch! I then created SeordagTV; an interactive bilingual website, see Seordag Origins for more details.

In my 40's I did a course in bronze casting and made the "e" series of sculptures; combining natural materials with electronic circuitry. I created a series of paintings to illustrate my YA novella Storm Hags. I also made my first feature film Graders. I then started on a pop art inspired series of portraits and made my second feature film Baobhan Sith.

In 2017 I combined the Seordag paintings with the pop art portraits and created new series Seordag & the Deadgirls. I created a series of paintings to illustrate my novel The Book of Skulls. During lockdown I made the Seordag Stories series of picturebooks and also created a new series of landscapes.
